The Basics

Book skip-the-line tickets to save time at the perennially popular Louvre or attend with an art expert guide for a more in-depth visit—art lovers and novices alike will benefit from such insight. Private tours are a good option for those with specific interests, while audio guides are also available. Alternatively, combine the Louvre with stops at the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, and Notre Dame Cathedral.

Highlights of the antiquity section include the Seated Scribe and Venus de Milo. From the Renaissance, don't miss famous works by Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, and Titian. French 19th-century masterpieces include Gericault's The Raft of the Medusa and the work of David and Delacroix.

Louvre Museum Timed Entrance Access with Cruise Ticket
Unfortunately, there were mobs of other tourists—an unavoidable fact in July. It was difficult to social distance or avoid coughing! But the Louvre is the Louvre — so wonderful!

Louvre Museum Skip-the-Line Guided Tour with Venus de Milo & Mona Lisa
The Louvre is gigantic, so unless you are visiting to see specific exhibits, this tour is worth it to see the highlights and provide historical context. We thought we'd run around the Louvre after the tour, but 3 hours was enough and we were satisfied! Definitely worth skipping the line and buying this tour in advance. While tourism is not supposed to be completely back to normal due to Covid, the lines were long enough that we were happy not to have to be part of them!

Louvre Museum Skip the Line Must-Sees Guided Tour
Great way to see and learn about the Louvre. Shown all the important works of art and design. My only criticism is that the tour guide should wear something to stand out because I spent half my time trying to look for her in the crowds of people.

The Louvre was amazing! A little overcrowded but it was the height of the season. We arrived late but staff accommodated very nicely.

Louvre Highlights Tour: Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo & Crown Jewels
Hugo was outstanding, and this experience was great at getting to avoid the lines and only hit upon the things we really wanted to see. Hugo was very easy to understand, yet he still have that Parisian flair. He was funny, knowledgeable, very entertaining. We never felt bored at all. I have been to the Louvre multiple times, and I still learned and saw more this time

Louvre Museum Semi-Private Skip the Line Guided Tour
We’ve been to the Louvre before, yet the tour introduced us to new areas. The moat of the palace and stories were very interesting! And, the palace rooms on the upper floors were opulent. Both areas we had never visited. Our guide Cristina was great and super knowledgeable!! 💗

Kids and Families Skip-the-Line Private Louvre Tour in Paris
Our kids loved learning how to write their names in hieroglyphs, and we enjoyed hearing the historical context we didn’t know behind some of the well-known pieces. Ruth was a wonderful guide (despite our youngest being a very grumpy and disagreeable traveler through much of the tour)! She was very engaging and knowledgeable. Would absolutely recommend this tour for folks who want to see the highlights of the Louvre quickly and effectively.

Paris Louvre Museum Must See Skip the Line Private and non Private
A great way to see the highlights of the Louvre. The museum itself is overwhelming. Our guide was quick to show us the highlights. She was able to give descriptions and meanings behind most everything in the Louvre. Great tour

Paris Essentials - Eiffel, Seine River, Louvre, Catacombs With Multiple Options
This experience was great. We were able to see many things we wanted to in one day. The guided Eiffel tower tour was fantastic. Our guide was fun, experienced and knowledgeable. Was glad to get there early so we could be in line before anyone else. Wish there was more direction on the times of the Catacombs & Louvre tickets. I was able to figure the times but if some people missed it they would go early for no reason. It was a lot of walking but definitely worth it.

Underrated Artworks at the Louvre

Most visitors flock to the Mona Lisa, but the Louvre is so much more than da Vinci's moody muse. Make time for Ingres' Grande Odalisque, an 18th-century nude; the cheeky 16th-century Gabrielle d’Estrées and One of Her Sisters; and a Goya classic—The Countess del Carpio. You can even explore the ruins of the fortress upon which the Louvre is built.
