Roman Forum (Foro Romano)

Largo Romolo e Remo, Rome, 00186

The Basics

The site is most often visited on three-hour tours that combine a visit to the ancient city with a Colosseum tour. Whether you choose a private tour or small-group tour, it's wise to visit with an expert guide who can help you navigate the large space and bring the ruins to life with true stories of gladiators, Roman emperors, and Julius Caesar. After your visit, check out the adjacent ruins at Circus Maximus or pay a visit to the Capitoline Museums to see the display of classical Roman empire sculptures.

Great tour
Dmitry was a great guide. Most of the tour is spent in the Colosseum with the last hour spent at Palatine hill. You can walk around the forum on your own for as long as you want.

Skip the Line: Colosseum Small Group Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill
A bit chaotic at the begining, and early part of tour due to very large group of 44 people. However, I understand Covid was the issue with this problem. Star of the show Serena our guide was brilliant, so professional & informative.

Sylvia, our tour guide was amazing. She was knowledgeable and funny. A pleasure to meet her. Sorry we had to leave before the end, my daughter was sick. They did add more people to the tour, ended up being a large group of 50 due to your guides being sick 😷 with COVID.

Get Crown Tours and ask for Lumi—best tour!

Skip the Line: Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill Tour
Lumi at Crown Tours was the best guide for any tour I’ve ever done, no joke. She was funny, informed, and made sure no one was lost and that we drank plenty of water during our very hot excursion. She also made sure we found shade. The tour itself is great but Lumi made it so much better!

Small-Group Colosseum Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill
Wow! Dario (I think that was his name) was excellent! The best we’ve had throughout traveling Europe. He was very very knowledgeable, but also hilarious. Could do a side job as a comedian if he wanted. Kept all of us in tune with the history of Rome. If you happen to get him as a guide, consider yourself lucky.

Skip the Line: Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill Tour
It was a great experience, the tour started on time, we were able to skip the line, smooth and fast entry to the Colosseum. The tour guide lady was funny, she had sound knowledge however her accent was a bit too strong, it was a bit hard to understand. Overall a great tour.

Colosseum and Roman Forum Skip-the-Line Private Tour
The tour was spectacular but made even better with Lia, our tour guide. She was kind, funny and knowledgeable. She gave us all the information we needed and answered all of our questions. She even recommended to us some other places to check out and to have lunch. Thank you Lia!!

Great Tour of the Colosseum! The tour guide was excellent and gave us a lot of breaks in the shaded areas as it was so hot. I would recommend doing a morning tour in the summertime!

Not too bad overall

Overall, not bad. When dealing with people from multiple cultures, guide needs to be a bit more sensitive. Being from SE PA I understand that humor, but could be misinterpreted. Very knowledgeable

JC was wonderful and quite knowledgeable! He was very aware of the heat and was great about keeping us out of the sun as much as possible all while making sure we had the best experience.

VIP Extra Small Group Colosseum Underground, Arena & Roman Forum Full Experience
The tour guide spoke clearly and was extremely knowledgeable about the history and architecture. Actually getting to the tour location was easy and well-explained, and the company running it (Crown Tours I believe) was helpful, professional, and fun. Actually being able to go inside and under the structure was miles better than last time I was here when we simply walked around the public levels. Would do again

Discovering the Roman Forum Ruins

Inside the archaeological area, stick to the Forum’s main thoroughfare, Via Sacra, to pass by important ruins such as the Julia Curia and the house of the Vestal Virgins. Some of the forum’s most impressive ruins include the white marble arch of Settimio Severo, the first-century Arch of Titus, and the remains of the Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine. If you can’t get enough of ancient Rome, there’s plenty more history just outside the city with day trips available to Pompeii and the Appian Way.
