The Basics

Haleakala sunrise tours with round-trip transportation included are the most popular way to see the crater, and save the hassle of navigating to the volcano’s summit in the dark. Many tours also include sunrise-viewing passes for Pu’u’ula’ula Summit, the highest point on Mt. Haleakala, while sunrise bike tours transport you to the peak from where you can enjoy the view and ride back down.

Alternatively, dodge the pre-dawn crowds with daytime trips, guided hikes across the crater floor, or full-day excursions to the crater and other destinations within Haleakala National Park or places such as Iao Valley and the Road to Hana.

Haleakala Sunrise Best Self-Guided Bike Tour with Bike Maui
Bill was an amazing guide on the way up. He was knowledgeable, funny, and very concerned about our safety. All the views were amazing, you can stop anytime, you were on your own time. I highly recommend the self guided tour.

The sight was like being on the moon. The sunrise and shadows were most awe inspiring. Our guide, Dustin, from Australia was knowledgeable, entertaining, cautious about our safety, fun.

Haleakala Sunrise Best Self-Guided Bike Tour with Bike Maui
This trip with Bike Maui to the sunrise is a must-do. Everyone should experience the natural beauty of this volcano, like they do the Grand Canyon, etc. this bike company is organized, the tour guides are great, your safety is is their #1 concern. Ask to be in Eddie-Buddy’s van. He’s excellent! and shares Hawaiian lore and dry humor that will leave you groaning in a good way.

Majestic Haleakala Sunrise Tour with Pick-up
I've done Haleakala twice... once on my own and once with this tour. I highly recommend using a tour. Pick up at the hotel was very convenient and allowed for extra rest on the way up. Even though we dressed in layers with sweat shirts and jackets our guide gave us thermal ponchos which were a life saver on the summit. Sunrise was spectacular! And breakfast at the Plantation was better than expected....delicious and on beautiful grounds.

Haleakala Sunrise Best Self-Guided Bike Tour with Bike Maui
It was very early, but it is not to be missed!! The sky was so clear you felt like you could touch the stars. The song our guides sung as the sun cam up was amazing. They were very safety oriented about the bike ride down. It was a fantastic experience!

Haleakala Best Classic Sunrise Tour with Haleakala EcoTours (Vehicle Tour)
The sunrise and the moments leading up to it. The driver cum tour guide, Eddy, was exceptional. The tour started real early 1:45 am since we had to be picked up. Eddys stories about Hawaiian history, culture and geography kept us awake and entertained. The breakfast place and the breakfast were awesome

Haleakala Sunrise Best Self-Guided Bike Tour with Bike Maui
Took the self-guided tour. Billy was our driver and tour guide - very educated, passionate and eloquent on Hawaii history, geology and the tour itself. Great experience from start to finish. Bike Maui is safety-first.
