The Basics

A soak in the famous Blue Lagoon is a must for visitors to Reykjavik. Booking ahead is required, and there are several options and extras to choose from, including towels, bathrobes, spa treatments, and special face masks. On-site facilities include a hotel, restaurant, café, bar, and spa shop.

Tours are the easiest and most convenient way to experience the lagoon complex, as most include hotel pickup and round-trip transport from Reykjavik. Some even combine a Blue Lagoon visit with other activities such as a city sightseeing tour, a Golden Circle tour, or a whale-watching cruise.

Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon Including Admission & Kerid Volcanic Crater
The tour bus operator was punctual, kind, and shared a wealth of interesting cultural and historical information about Iceland and the Icelandic people. The shuttle itself was very clean and comfortable. To end at the Blue Lagoon was a high note.

Active Volcano Hike and Blue Lagoon Day Tour from Reykjavík - Admission Included
This was an excellent combination. Longer at the blue lagoon than two hours would have been better though. Some additional stops were a nice touch. Tom the guide was great,. even though his language is a bit fruity. There was no flowing lava when I was there even though this is what was advertised. The blue lagoon is the best of the lagoons.

Golden Circle, Kerid Volcanic Crater, and Blue Lagoon Day Trip from Reykjavik
A windy and rainy day, with a lot of sightseeing. Beautiful waterfall and speciel to see the Kerid crater. Wouldn’t have missed the crater. The Blue lagoon were stormy and rainy, but okay. The bus isn’t made for wet clothes and people who is 1.92 cm High. Because off the Wind it felt a bit scary driving around…. As if timetable were more important, than safety…

Golden Circle Day Tour Including Blue Lagoon Admission from Reykjavik
Blue Lagoon is a must see. Iceland is beautiful. The people are welcoming and our guide was friendly. Only I didn’t like was all the buses. This trip had us on 4 different buses and doing the “milk run” 3 times. I feel like this was left out of the description.

Golden Circle and The Blue lagoon Private Day Tour from Reykjavik
We had an amazing day with our tour guide, Magnus. He told us all kind of interesting stories about the area, brought us to all the spots in the Golden Circle with time to spare, dropped us off at the Blue Lagoon right on time and brought us back to our ship right afterwards. We couldn’t ask for a better guide!

The Healing Powers of the Blue Lagoon

The geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon are typically heated to between 98°F and 104°F (37°C and 40°C), and are famous for their high levels of silica, algae, and minerals, which explain the lagoon's cloudy blue appearance. The mineral-rich waters have long been reputed for their healing properties and are reported to help skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema. If you'd like to do more than soak, there is also a sauna, steam room, man-made waterfall, silica mud masks, and in-water massages.
