Very disappointed.
Michael_D, Aug 2022
We were looking forward to this excursion for months and did not see one manta ray come under our light box. Very, very disappointed and I do not usually write reviews but I feel that I should warn others to not get your hopes up with this excursion. We kept being told that the rays would come. I had GoPro on whole time without a single ray. Very upsetting. I also called the boat company and the owner said he would get back to me but I never heard back from him.
Best snorkel and so different!
Lisa_S, Aug 2022
This was the highlight of our trip! It was so spectacular to see the manta rays! Jacob and his crew were awesome and so was the music on trip out!
Amazing!
Lisa_W, Aug 2022
This was a great experience! I was a little worried going into the ocean at night, but seeing the manta rays made those worries disappear. It was an amazing sight to see! The boat ride to/from the site took about 20 minutes each way and was a little bumpy. We could spend however long we liked in the water. My kids (ages 5, 9, and 12) were getting cold so we only lasted about 20 minutes. The hot shower once back on the boat felt great and the snacks were much appreciated. The tour guides were kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend this tour!

A surreal experience
Riley_S, Aug 2022
What an experience! It was so surreal seeing the manta rays... they are much bigger in person! The boat ride was pretty cool as well, such a vibe at night. Simon was an awesome host as well
We'll be back.

We did this for a date night, we were unfortunate enough to have really choppy weather, but fortunate it was still a phenomenal experience. The crew were kind and the manta rays were majestic. I plan to take me sister and middle son next time.
Manta Rays
Andrea_A, Aug 2022
Besides choosing the most choppy day out, the experience was absolutely unforgettable and Captain Simon was so funny!! Thank you so much for making this trip one to remember! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for something adventurous and you can only get here on the big island!
Gigantic waves ruined the experience
jasonpetrop, Aug 2022
The staff was amazing. That was the only part of the trip worth remembering. The waves were GIGANTIC, it was windy outside, we were all flailing about holding onto the manta light/floater for survival. I got motion sickness but was too scared to even worry about that. Getting back to land was the best part of the excitation. We saw two manta rays the entire time as well, less than ideal. As stated above, the staff did a great job of keeping us safe, I’m just unsure how this is such a loved experience. I’d wouldn’t recommended to anyone.

Tawnya_C, Aug 2022
There was a light only on one end of the board. Would have been better if there was lights on both ends of the board.

Hang Loose Tours anticipated our every desire and delivered!
Joanna_C, Aug 2022
This is the most unforgettable and amazing experience you can’t believe until you see it! The guides were truly entertaining while informative and have obviously done this a lot and learned how to anticipate our every wish and question. Their extra help and attention to my 80 year old parents who got in the water with us was very appreciated.

This was a memorable, once in a lifetime experience. The only issue was that Viator gave conflicting info on start/departure times.

Unique experience
Nikkole_R, Aug 2022
This was a unique experience- don’t forget warm, dry clothes, a towel and maybe even a blanket for afterwards! We all got sea sick- which is normal. The captain was so funny!
Once in a lifetime experience

The water was freezing but well worth it to swim with these majestic creatures. Really is a once in a lifetime experience!
Superb crew and awesome experience
Sidharth_M, Aug 2022
Highly recommended. All the crew members were highly motivated and cheering. They were extra miles to help you and make you feel better. Must do if you visit Kona. We really enjoyed watching Manta rays and one of them bumped me as well :)
A non-swimmer's story.
Nethra_S, Aug 2022
This is a wonderful experience and an experience of a lifetime. Terrifying for non-swimmers but still totally worth it. In our family of four, my 11 yo daughter was the only one who could swim. My 7 yo son is still learning to swim; I am gauche in the water and with no prescription goggles and night time, I am basically blind in the water. My wife can't swim at all. It is with these handicaps, we ventured on this adventure. The crew was extremely trustworthy and they seem to be quite experienced. From the boat to the platform, one needs to be swim across around 20 feet. They helped us get there by holding on to the noodle and they made sure we were comfortable. Swimming in the open bay at night can scare the daylights out of anyone but seeing the manta rays come up so close to you in the wild is a life changing experience. With time, I began to enjoy and got more comfortable. The water was a warm 79F that night and with the helping crew around, I felt emboldened. I am adventurous but also quite sceptical of doing crazy things. But this is one adventure I don't regret. FYI - we took the 9PM slot and we were back on shore aby 10:45PM.
Amazing experience
